White Fillings

Composite resin and porcelain fillings. Replace and repair mercury fillings.

Fillings are used to restore teeth that have been damaged by decay and prevent further decay.

Until recent years, patients could choose only from gold or silver (amalgam) fillings, both of which are asthetically unappealing. As old amalgam fillings used mercury, some patients are also concerned about potential mercury exposure when their amalgam fillings become worn or chipped.

White Fillings

Today, patients can choose tooth coloured fillings that are durable and virtually undetectable.

At North Shore Dentistry, we only use tooth coloured fillings to restore your teeth and give a natural appearance.

Composite resin is matched to your tooth colour and also gives a natural appearance, however is less durable and more prone to chips and stains than porcelain.

Porcelain fillings, also called inlays or onlays, can be matched to the colour of the tooth and are strong, durable and stain-resistant. Porcelain fillings can now be completed in a single visit thanks to the wonderful new technology offered by our Cerec machine.

If your check-up identifies the need for a filling, we will happily discuss both options with you and give you a quote for both composite resin and porcelain fillings.
